Biography

Celia founded ARTEMIS MEDIA with the late Brian Beaton and is based in Fremantle, Western Australia (WA). Artemis produces ‘stand out’ high quality factual TV for domestic and international networks and is renowned for stories that inspire, delight and inform.
Celia has worked as a writer, producer, director and Executive Producer and won national and international awards for her work. Artemis’s focus is on creating entertaining documentaries with social purpose, including Saving Andrew Mallard, The Dream House, Don’t Stop the Music, Storm in a Teacup, Australia’s Biggest Singalong and Australia’s Health Revolution with Dr. Michael Mosley. Currently in production is landmark series Ningaloo, written and narrated by author Tim Winton, Every Family has a Secret Series 4, Australia’s Sleep Revolution with Dr. Michael Mosley and Old Dog New Tricks (working title).
Celia is the Chair of the IAGC (Industry Advisory Group Committee) that assists the Board of the WA state film funding agency, Screenwest, to engage with, monitor and maintain currency with emerging issues and trends affecting the WA screen industry. The IAGC is a subcommittee of the Screenwest Board. Celia is also Committee member of Screen Voice, an association for Australian independent screen producers.
Artemis continues to assist in mentoring and training dozens of screen professionals in WA – helping to grow the industry.
Celia has a passion for music, singing her way through earlier years in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. She read Geography at St John’s College, Cambridge University and in 1986 was awarded the Sir Joseph Lamor college award for outstanding contribution. She went on to study a Post Graduate Certificate of Radio, TV and Film at Bristol University.
She moved to Fremantle Western Australia in 1993 and lives in Fremantle, Western Australia with her daughters and dogs and is actively involved for advocacy in the community for people with disabilities.
