Biography

After starting his career in sports marketing at Reebok, he embarked on the world of film working at Village Roadshow Pictures. He cut his producing-and-directing teeth in advertising at Deutsch LA, and has directed work for clients including Amazon, MLB and Verizon, the last of which – a Super Bowl Campaign “First Responders” – won three Cannes Lions and one Webby Award.
While working at Deutsch, Justin noticed that the number of minority employees was extremely low. This remained the case despite that much of the work coming out of the agency tended to deal with Black culture, if not wholly appropriating it. In 2019, Justin left to create Invisible Collective.
A production company built for the future, Invisible has partnered with some of the biggest brands in the world to create authentic and dynamic work. The Collective in Invisible Collective represents their dedication to mentoring diverse talent from all backgrounds – from young directors to seasoned creatives across the board, a mission they have successfully carried out from day one.
Justin is part of several diversity-minded initiatives. With Reonna Johnson, he co-founded Three’s A Crowd, a community of 150+ Los Angeles-based Black creative professionals working toward the common goal to create change for POC within the ad industry.
Additionally, Justin developed the new podcast, Hex Code Black, in partnership with Reonna Johnson. Produced by Deutsch LA, each episode features raw and honest conversations with Black professionals at the intersection of race, culture and creativity.
He is also a VP board member of Safety Saints, a non-profit which makes safety training accessible and affordable for all communities.
