Biography
Robert Kirkpatrick founded Lava Studio in 1999 after years as a creative director and VFX artist in New York and Miami. Lava is a design-driven studio creating animation, VFX and live production for features, networks, and brands of all kinds. Robert studied painting and film at New York’s Pratt Institute and became a pioneer in the world of computer graphics, animation and VFX. He’s a two-time Emmy winner and eight-time nominee for Art Direction and Graphic Design. Robert competed on Jeopardy against all-time champion Ken Jennings (and was soundly defeated!). He splits his time between Miami Beach, New York City, and rural New England, still painting when his CEO duties allow. Robert has been an IQ member since the Dublin conference in 2019, and he enjoys his many collaborations with fellow IQ members.
